Instructor-in-Training Program

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities and veterans? Are you an experienced rider who enjoys sharing your love of horses with others? If so, Ride for Joy's Instructor-in-Training program might be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

RFJ’s instructor mentorship program prepares candidates to become PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors.


The Instructor-in-Training position is part-time, and hours are primarily on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The timeline for this position is one year, but it may lead to permanent employment as a certified instructor at Ride for Joy, depending on the needs of the program.

Candidates must have…

  • Availability to teach lessons on Tuesday and/or Wednesday.

  • Intermediate to advanced riding and horsemanship skills

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Interest in working with participants with disabilities and veterans

  • Interest in earning a PATH Intl. certification
